They are 160 to 205 μm long, unsheathed and have no nuclei in the tip of the tail, which is bent in a small hooklike shape. In the blood, they can be easily distinguished from W. bancrofti microfilariae, which are longer and sheathed. WebMansonella sp. nematodes are transmitted by dipteran flies. In particular, M. ozzardi nematodes are transmitted by biting midges of the genera Culicoides and by black flies from the genus Simulium .
